The Satanists, created by Satan, were the descendants of the people of Sodom and Gomorrah, the ancient cities destroyed by God. They were a major force in the manga 'Demon Lord Dante'.

History

In the war against God, the Demon Lord Satan saw the surviving demons as wayward and lost, and in turn established the Satanists, to help guide them in this dark era. The group consisted primarily of the demon survivors of Sodom and Gomorrah, and what few humans remained from the once great capitals. After Satan was imprisoned by the Apostles, Beelzebub took charge over the group.

In the year 1980, the Satanists held a Black Mass in an attempt to resurrect the mighty Demon Lord, Dante. Having kidnapped a young Christian girl named Akane Nanjo, to serve as a human sacrifice, five of the greatest demon psychics, Beelzebub, Karne, Gusion, Samael and a unnamed bearded figure, gathered alongside a large number of their cloth to resurrect the Demon Lord. They are successful, but an attack from the Warriors of God, causes them to rush the ritual, and Dante returns with the mind of Ryo Utsugi. Confused, Dante flees to Nagoya.
